A Record-Breaking Tiramisù

At Eataly London, tiramisù holds a special place. It’s the dessert that reminds our Italian guests of home and introduces our UK community to one of Italy’s most loved classics.

You’ll find it in our restaurants, in our market and in the memories of anyone who has grown up with it on the table at family gatherings.

This year, that iconic Italian dessert made history and we’re incredibly proud to had been a part of it.

A Guinness World Record in the Making

In April 2026, London hosted an official Guinness World Record attempt to create the longest tiramisù in the world, stretching over 400 metres. The record attempt took place at Chelsea Old Town Hall, bringing together chefs, pastry chefs and Italian food lovers for a truly extraordinary celebration of Italian excellence.

Representing Eataly London was our very own Head Pastry Chef, Rosaria Sara Spina, joined by Sous Chef Serena Angelillo, as they work alongside fellow professionals to craft this monumental dessert layer by layer. From whipping mascarpone cream to carefully assembling each coffee-dipped biscuit, every detail honoured the traditional technique behind this beloved dolce.

More than a record, the initiative carries a charitable mission, raising funds to support families and individuals in need through a UK-based foundation. It was a celebration of community, generosity and the power of food to bring people together.

Why Tiramisù?

Tiramisù translates to “pick me up”, and few desserts capture joy quite like it. Said to have originated in Treviso, in the Veneto region, the classic recipe combines:

  • Ladyfingers dipped in strong espresso

  • A rich mascarpone and egg cream

  • A generous dusting of cocoa

Across Italy, every family has its own version and lively debates about which one is best. At Eataly, we’re lucky to say ours is crafted by Rosaria herself, using traditional methods and Italian ingredients that keep the recipe authentic and timeless.

From Our Kitchen to a World Record

Seeing Rosaria and Serena contribute their expertise to such a landmark event feels especially meaningful. The same craftsmanship that goes into every tiramisù served at Eataly London helped build something record-breaking, a shared celebration of Italian culture on an unforgettable scale.

If you’d like to try your hand at making it yourself, Rosaria has shared her traditional recipe on our blog, a beautifully simple version that proves you don’t need 300 metres of tiramisù to create something extraordinary at home.

Because whether it’s a slice in our restaurant, a homemade tray in your kitchen, or a world-record attempt, tiramisù will always be about the same thing: bringing people together, one layer at a time.

Discover Rosaria’s traditional tiramisù recipe on our blog, or join us in celebrating this sweet milestone.

And this July, we’ll also be hosting a Tiramisù Masterclass at La Scuola. Details are still to be confirmed, but it will be an opportunity to learn the technique behind this iconic dessert directly from our team, from the perfect espresso dip to achieving that smooth, airy cream.

Whether you discover tiramisù in our market, enjoy a slice after dinner, make Rosaria’s recipe at home, or witness a 300-metre version come to life, it carries the same message.

Italian food is about sharing, craft and above all, it’s about bringing people together.
